Culture

There are many activities and events in the newly built, House of Culture. The city library and art museum are in the building. The local theatre, Norrbottensteatern, located in the North Harbour, puts on several performances every year. During the daytime, the theatre performs “Soap Lunch Theater” where performances are combined with theatre during lunch time.
Nature

Luleå is a small town surrounded by beautiful nature environment. The Luleå archipelago, composed of over 600 islands, is fantastic. There are boat tours every day through the entire summer, and swimming beaches are within walking distance from the hotel. The water is clean and often warm in the summer. The archipelago offers both summer and winter adventures. Dog sledding, snowmobiles, skiing, and driving on the city maintained ice roads are some of the variety of winter activities. A 5km road is ploughed on the ice right in the center of Luleå, a perfect place to skate or walk. Two ski areas are within 10km of the city center. The southern harbour in Luleå is also a popular fishing spot.

There are many opportunities for training in Luleå, fine bike routes, ski trails, canoe waterways, golfcourse, city swimming pool and gyms- Helex, Impuls and Nautilus. Luleå has several elite teams, Plannja Basketball, Luleå Basketball, Luleå Hockey, and IFK Luleå(soccer).
Shopping and Entertainment

In Luleå you can “shop till you drop". There is a pedestrian street with several shopping galleries and exciting stores. For nightlife, there are bars, nightclubs, and several restaurants
